Products for Every Area of Your Garden

Whether you’re preparing a vegetable garden or building a garden path, Washington Rock has the materials you need.

Gravel for Gardens
We have a wide variety of gravel products. Most are made at Kapowsin Quarry and are a blue-gray color we call “Kapowsin Blue.” We also crush round rock at King Creek Pit with a rustic color combo that we nicknamed “Country Style.”

These are our most popular gravel options:

  • ¼” Minus (Kapowsin Blue) or 3/8″ Minus (Country Style) for garden paths and paver bases
  • 5/8″ Minus (Kapowsin Blue) for garden paths, patios, and shed pads
  • ¾” Landscape Gravel for garden paths, borders, and downspouts (available in both Kapowsin Blue and Country-Style)
  • 1¼” Clean (Kapowsin Blue) and 2″ Clean (Kapowsin Blue) for garden borders and downspouts

Round Rock for Gardens
We offer many round rock options, including

  • Pea Gravel for drains, playgrounds, and garden borders
  • Drain Rock for French Drains, dry creek beds, and garden borders
  • River Rock for dry creek beds, water features, gabions, and garden borders

Large Rocks for Gardens
We offer Streambed Boulders and large Landscape Rock (a.k.a. Rockery Rock) for building garden walls, rockeries, water features, dry creek beds, and more.

Topsoil and Topsoil Blends
Our topsoils are used locally by homeowners, gardeners, and landscape supply companies. Our Basic Topsoil is a naturally occurring sandy loam mined at King Creek Pit. It’s a great material for mounding and building up new lawns and gardens. All of our topsoil blends are created by adding varying percentages of compost to our Basic Topsoil.

3-Way Topsoil is a blend of clean sandy loam and compost that is well suited to flower beds, gardens, and new lawns. Our product meets the planting bed soil requirement for Post Construction Soil Quality required by Pierce, King, and Thurston counties.

Garden Mix is a blend of 50% clean sandy loam and 50% compost. It’s an excellent choice for gardens and raised planter boxes. It drains well and provides lots of nutrients for plant and vegetables.

We can also make custom soil mixes for commercial projects.

Sand-Compost Blends
Our sand-compost blends are ideal for planting areas that require drainage, such as rooftop gardens and rain gardens.

Rain Garden Soil Mix is a blend of 60% well-graded sand and 40% fine compost. The City of Seattle uses it around retention ponds and in rooftop gardens. It is free draining, and the compost helps retain moisture.
