PRODUCTS: Crushed Rock
Crushed Rock Products for Every Project
Our crushed rock products are trusted for heavy-construction jobs and home projects alike.
Clean vs. Minus Crushed Rock
Clean rock products contain no fines (small particles of ground rock).
Minus rock does contain fines. Fines help a product compact. For example, if you’re building a driveway over soft ground, a minus product will compact and stay in place better than a clean product.
See our Clean vs. Minus video for more information.
Determining the Right Product for Your Project
Our blog article has suggestions on picking the right product for driveway and landscape projects.
Kapowsin Blue Signature Color
Kapowsin Blue is the name for the blue-gray color that is unique to Washington Rock’s crushed rock products. The color is especially pronounced when our products are wet, such as after rainfall.
Landscape Materials
Trail Rock (¼” Minus or 3/8″ Minus) is the perfect material for trails in your yard or garden. They compact well to provide sturdy, solid paths. ¼” Minus is also a great base material for pathway pavers.
Landscape Gravel can be used as an accent in garden borders or even as a substitute for wood mulch.
Infrastructure Materials
Top Course (5/8” Minus) and Base Course (1¼” Minus) can be used for gravel driveways and are frequently used in the construction industry as base materials for paving. We also make permeable versions of these products for pervious concrete and asphalt projects.
Quarry Spalls provide a solid base for muddy roads and building foundations.
Chip Rock is a sturdy product for chip sealing. We also offer several varieties of Armorstone®, an overlay aggregate that is used across the U.S. to add friction to roads.
We make several types of AREMA-spec Ballast for railway construction. In addition to the Destination Point Defiance rail bypass, we are providing materials for the Sound Transit light-rail extension. This includes the first-ever railway tracks to traverse a floating bridge.
Track and Field Construction
Our Permeable Aggregates are used throughout the state as a base for athletic turf fields, both synthetic and natural. They provide a well-draining base for pervious concrete and asphalt roadways as well.
