Product Description
7/8″ Drain Rock is a mix of washed round rocks measuring up to 7/8″ in diameter. It’s uniformly graded and assists in drainage applications.
Our drain rock is mined at King Creek Pit and has a wide array of earthy colors, including gray, mauve, red, blue, white, orange, and brown.
It meets the AASHTO #57 specification as well as WSDOT Standard Specifications 9-03.12(4) for Gravel Backfill for Drains:
- 99–100% passing the 1″ screen
- 80–100% passing the ¾” screen
- 0–40% passing the 3/8″ screen
- 0–4% passing the #4 screen
- 0–2% passing the #200 screen
Product Applications
7/8″ Drain Rock can be used behind walls, under concrete slabs for permeability, and in capillary breaks. It can also be used as pipe bedding. In landscaping, it can be used in place of mulch or beauty bark.

Prices quoted are for material delivery only. Drivers do their best to dump material evenly when requested. However, Washington Rock cannot guarantee that this will result in an even or desirable distribution of material. Customers must supply the equipment and labor necessary to finish projects.
Minimum Delivery Quantity

1½” Drain Rock meets WSDOT Standard Specifications 9-03.12(5) for Gravel Backfill for Drywells:
- 99–100% passing the 1½” screen
- 50–100% passing the 1″ screen
- 0–20% passing the ¾” screen
- 0–2% passing the 3/8″ screen
- 0–1.5% passing the #200 screen
Product Applications
1½” Drain Rock is commonly used in French drains and landscaping in place of mulch or beauty bark. It can also be used for erosion control and as a backfill for drywells (an underground structure used to store water runoff).
Similar Products
We also offer Sand Drainage Blanket material (3940-3), which is a washed sand and round rock mix that can be used as an alternative to rock for French drains. It ranges from the #200 screen to 2½” round rock. It’s typically used as a free-draining structural backfill for walls, road bases, and foundations. It meets WSDOT Standard Specifications 9-03.13(1).
