Over the weekend, Washington Rock Quarries celebrated its ninth year at Dozer Day Seattle with a “fish rock”-themed sticker and activity.
The latest sticker, designed by artist Zoe Radford, takes Washington Rock’s popular state pride sticker underwater to an alpine stream filled with salmon.
The imagery was brought to life at Dozer Day through a rock-painting activity. The interior of the 20’ x 20’ rock-painting tent featured banners of fish swimming overhead amid strands of silvery bubbles.
Children could choose their “fish rocks”—1½” Drain Rock from King Creek Pit—from a treasure chest and paint designs on the rocks with paint markers. Decorations like googly eyes and seashells could be added at a hot glue station with the help of an adult.
Guests were invited to photograph their creations in an underwater-themed photobooth, then place their creations in mini totes to take home.
The activity celebrated Washington Rock’s fish rock: custom mixes of river rock that are used to create new habitat for salmon and other aquatic species.
Over the two-day event, visitors created hundreds of unique masterpieces and claimed over 1,000 free WA Rock stickers. Washington Rock was just one of many companies who offered creative activities and giveaways.
In addition to the rock-painting activity, Washington Rock contributed 135 tons of gravel for the highlight of the event: the opportunity to operate real construction machinery with the help of a skilled operator. Washington Rock also contributed 15 tons of sand for the sandboxes located throughout the event.
