Date:
May 2015 – November 2015GET A QUOTEDescription
In 2015, SeaTac International Airport
reconstructed the center runway, which was originally built in 1969. The runway is projected to have a 40-year lifespan. In total, the project cost $95 million.
Materials
Over 191,000 Tons of FAA-approved
7/8” Concrete Aggregate,
1½” Concrete Aggregate, and
Sand were used.
Highlights
Reconstruction of SeaTac International Airport’s center runway involved rebuilding 4,000 concrete panels that needed to withstand immense force during landing and takeoff. To ensure we met the FAA’s demanding standards, we washed our aggregates twice and increased the amount they were crushed. Our efforts helped the contractor achieve the correct concrete strength and meet tough FAA requirements. The completion of the project was publicized in the
Seattle Times.
